Translate your app with Claude Code and MCP

When an AI assistant writes a new screen, it also writes the texts. With Sleekdocs Translate's MCP server, those texts go straight into your translation project, in every language, ready for review.

The gap MCP closes

An assistant like Claude Code can add checkout.title to your English JSON file in a second. Getting the same key into Sleekdocs, with a Swedish and German text, used to mean copying it over by hand or writing a script against the API. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets the assistant use Sleekdocs directly, through tools it understands: find the keys that are missing, propose texts, show what would change, and save.

Connect it in a minute

Create an API key on the API keys page in Sleekdocs Translate, limited to one project, with read, write and keys, and a short lifetime. Then add the server to Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http sleekdocs \
  https://translate.sleekdocs.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer sdt_…"

Cursor and VS Code work the same way; the MCP guide has their settings.

What a session looks like

Ask in your own words: "Add the texts for the new checkout page in English and Swedish." The assistant looks up the project, calls propose_texts, which only reports what would change, and shows you the new keys with their texts. When you say yes, apply_texts saves them.

Other things to ask:

  • "What's untranslated in German? Suggest translations, matching the tone of the existing ones."
  • "Which keys changed since the last release?"
  • "Publish the changed languages and deploy them to test."

You stay in control

  • Unpublished by default. What the assistant saves waits in the working copy. Nothing reaches your app until someone publishes and deploys.
  • Never more than you. The assistant acts with your API key's scopes, and never beyond your role in the team. Leave out deploy:prod and it can't touch production.
  • Asked before changes. Each tool tells the assistant whether it only reads or changes something, so it can ask you before saving, deleting or deploying.
  • On the record. Publishes and deploys show in the team's log as "via MCP".

Translations from the assistant you already use

Sleekdocs doesn't run its own AI. The assistant you already work with does the translating, with the context of your code and your existing texts, and Sleekdocs keeps track of keys, revisions and what's live where. Connect your assistant, or read the API reference to see what each tool calls.
